Competition for China Mobile’s TD-LTE business to begin shortly

China Mobile will start an open-bid competition process as early as in mid-May to procure equipment of 200,000 TD-LTE base stations as well as equipment of 110,000 TD-SCDMA base stations which can be smoothly upgraded to support TD-LTE, according to industry sources in Taiwan.

So much for the American dream. After struggling to overcome regulatory opposition and its own reputation, Chinese telecom equipment company Huawei is finally calling it quits. At a summit on Tuesday, executive VP Eric Xu put things quite bluntly according to the Financial Times: “We are not interested in the US market any more.”
