As the regular session of the Legislature closed last May 31, lawmakers decided that a high number of important subjects still needed a break in the summer recess. Issues widely expected to appear on the agenda were the concentration of the media in the hands of a few tycoons, pension reform, controversial changes to the Accounting Act, administrative reform, education and the fourth nuclear plant now under construction in Gongliao, New Taipei City.
