Galaxy to spend HK$60bn on casino expansion

The company will spend the money on the third and fourth phases of Galaxy Macau, its flagship casino resort in Cotai that opened in May 2011, Chief Financial Officer Robert Drake said in an interview yesterday. Galaxy has said it will start construction of the two phases as early as the end of this year and begin operations gradually from 2016 through 2018.

No. 3 isn’t Amazon.com (AMZN), even though the e-commerce giant enjoyed year-over-year growth of 157 percent for its Kindle Fire devices. The third-place finisher is Asustek Computer (2357), the Taiwan company that first broke from the pack of anonymous outsourcing manufacturers in the late 2000s, when it was a leader in the short-lived era of netbooks.
